Hello! My name is Aekem Singh.

Student Leader | Aspiring Filmmaker with 8+ Years of Direction, Script Writing, Cinematography, and Editing Experience

A little bit of my story

I’m an enthusiastic high school student who loves storytelling, leadership, and community. My love for filmmaking started when I was eight, and has now grown to a commitment to using it as a medium for empathy and representation. I have directed, filmed, and edited several documentaries and short films focusing on identity, resilience, and belonging (see sections below).

I’m driven by the same purpose that guides the stories I tell: to help people feel seen. At Worcester Academy, I’m Head Monitor (school president equivalent), where I lead meetings, work with the faculty on policy issues, and help build community in our school. I also founded the Filmmaking Club and serve as the South Asian Affinity Group leader.

As a practicing Sikh, I teach young students about Sikh music, history, and script at Khalsa School, allowing me to share my culture and help others connect with their identity.

My creative and academic pursuits extend to South Asian and Cultural Studies, with a focus on further exploration of the intersection of history, identity, and representation. Whether I am filming on set, teaching at Khalsa School, or playing basketball with friends, I try to lead with intention, listen actively, and build bonds that last beyond the last frame.

My Portfolio

A collection of my work as a filmmaker, documentarian, mentor, and leader.

Honored to be featured in Worcester Academy’s Hilltopper Magazine (Fall 2024) for connecting cultures through film and empowering Sikh youth through storytelling.
